As I predicted many posts ago, there was going to be a day on The View where Whoopi finally snaps at Elisabeth. Today is that day!
I'd post a clip but it has not surfaced on YouTube yet. But if you go to eonline.com, you can see it.
Basically it consisted of Elisabeth arguing that the N-word is a term that should not be used by ANYONE regardless of race; or the fact cameras are on or off.
The problem with her argument was she didn't let the two black women (Sherri and especially Whoppi, the moderator) state their side of the argument. At one point, I really though Barbara Walters was just going to slap her to shut Elisabeth up.
Let's face it Elisabeth is a complete drama queen who talks out of her ass and doesn't think before she speaks.
And what really frustrates me about the clip is that she starts out making a strong case but just blows it my not letting others get a word in edge wise and then at the ending the conversation with her "crocodile" tears.
Now I want to take some to say I'm conflicted by the actual argument topic. Because as much as she annoys me, Elisabeth does have a point. The N-word is a bad word and should not be used, however on the flip side I also agree with Whoopi and Sherri. Just read through my posts. I've refereed to myself, as well as others, several times as a homo, fag, sissy or big queen. I've also used the term dyke. We all know they are derogatory terms to describe a homosexual ,which I am.
But because I am a homosexual & Whoppi is black, it's OK to use these a derogatory term because if you are one and use the word it is taken out of the context of which it was originally intended and we are reclaiming it and giving it a positive spin. I know when I'm using the terms, I'm not meaning to be derogatory, I'm just attempting to give a little more punch to what I'm trying to say. Just like when I use a certain f-word to get my point across. OK, I also use the f-word to guarantee Netty will at least partially listen to my side of an argument.
However does it really make it less derogatory? I don't know. I think it's one of those arguments for the ages. Right after which sex is more superior. There is just no clear answer.
Please think about it for a moment and post your views. I'd like to know how others feel.
